What Does a Check Up Include?
A routine visit to Smile Family Dental Care could go a long way to improving your oral health! The standard semi-annual visit includes x-rays, a visual exam to check for cavities and gum disease and a cleaning. It usually takes from 30 – 45 minutes and is completely pain free!
Step 1: X-Rays
We'll take digital x-rays of your teeth and examine them to locate any cavities.
Step 2: Visual Examination
We'll examine your teeth and gums to locate any cavities and any signs of gum disease.
Step 3: Cleaning
At your semi-annual exam, your dentist or hygienist will do a full cleaning to remove plague and tartar that can't be removed by normal brushing.
How Often Should I Go to the Dentist?
We recommend visiting the dentist every 6 months to guarantee good oral hygiene. Preventative dentistry is the most important measure you can take to keep your smile in check. We recommend coming in twice a year for x-rays, cleaning and an oral examination.
Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is completely preventable and yet, 50% of Americans age 30 or older have periodontitis. Frequent check-ups and cleanings, along with practicing good oral hygiene, is the best way to prevent gum disease.
